Annette Williams - B.E.S.T. Director

Annette Williams is the director of the nationally recognized Bronx Environmental Stewardship Training program (B.E.S.T.) providing proven, effective green-collar job training and placement services for NYC residents.  Annette has over 20 years of experience as a program coordinator for community organizations, and as an activist for environmental justice - including the difficult and sometimes dangerous work of ecological remediation.
She was Head Gardener at Bathgate Community Garden for 8 years, and Bronx Field Director for the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) for 5 years. Her work with non-profits includes Life-Skill and TEAM Building Exercise Session for the Americorp teams, Westchester field park crews and worker and with Faith Youth groups.
She is guided in this work by a simple motto: The earth needs us as much as we need it. Her passion is not just the horticultural aspects of the environment, but also compassion, extending the nurturing hands of love and guidance to the many children and young people in her circle of influence.

She is a mother of seven and grandmother of 10, and holds a Bachelors degree, in the field of early childhood development.
