Tanya fosters and maintains great relationships between community residents and other South Bronx organizations.

Prior to joining SSBx Tanya was a volunteer member at Mothers On the Move, where she developed her organizing and coordinating skills by working closely with leaders on the Environmental Justice committee.  She has made numerous TV and print appearances in support of those issues; including BET’s Keep the Faith and the cover of Bronx News.

Since February of 2006, Tanya has also owned and operated a for-profit company that unites and uplifts women of color through fashion, arts and entertainment called BLK GRL (www.blkgrl.com/blog)

Tanya Fields is the proud mother of two wonderful and inquisitive young girls.
