Hunts Point Landing, the latest addition to the South Bronx Greenway to be completed, officially opened on Monday, September 24. Community members, legislators, and media were on hand for the event. The 1.5-acre park features a fishing pier and fish-cleaning station, kayak launch, seating created from re-purposed boulders from a former bridge, native grasses, a tidal pool and tables.
Congressman Jose Serrano cut the ribbon to officially open the park. State Assemblyman Marcos Crespo spoke about how parks such as this one make growing up in the Bronx a positive experience.
Sustainable South Bronx was one of the organizations involved in implementing the development of the park. Executive Director Michael Brotchner spoke about how the park will help improve the environment in years to come
